Dr. Zhuo Chen is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Energy and Environment at City University of Hong Kong, working with Prof. Wei Wu. He is also a co-founder of Energy & Environmental Analytics Limited (HK). He received his B.Eng. in Energy and Power Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2018 and his Ph.D. in Building Science from the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University, in 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Jinhan Mo. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Dr. Chen’s research focuses on pollutant transport and air purification in indoor environments involving coupled heat and moisture processes, particularly under high-temperature and high-humidity conditions. His research interests include the interfacial emission and transport of organic pollutants, microbial growth and fate at air–material interfaces, the control of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and antibiotic resistance genes, the purification of complex indoor pollutant mixtures, and human exposure assessment.
Dr. Chen’s publication record comprises 23 SCI-indexed papers, including 13 as first or corresponding author. His work has appeared in journals such as Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Building and Environment, and Construction and Building Materials. His research has also led to the filing of six Chinese invention patent applications. His contributions have been recognized with the Best Paper Award at the 16th Academic Conference on Building Physics and the Best Poster Award at the 9th Indoor Environment and Health Branch Conference. Research support has included the Postdoc Matching Fund Scheme of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Open Fund of the Key Laboratory of New Technology for Construction of Cities in Mountain Area, Ministry of Education, Chongqing University. His professional affiliations include membership in the Building Physics Branch of the Architectural Society of China and service as a Youth Committee Member of the Indoor Environment and Health Branch of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences.
